Ada Beh, Thea Bruley, and Marge Page depart MSP airport connecting with Matt Page in Brussels.
Our mission begins with a layover in Monrovia before a 4 hour drive to Ganta
Our base camp is at Rev Priscilla's home. We are treated to indoor plumbing, great food, and extraordinary hospitality
We finally arrive at our mission site, the Gipo Vocational Technical Institute. We are greeted by dozens of students and school teachers.
This building has been aaded since our last mission to expand space for vocational students to learn and work.
When we left in 2019, only the dormitory foundation had been dug. We entered 2024 with the wall near completion.
Day One of our mission to complete the GVTI Dormitory
Supplies are purchased with street vendors even on National Holidays
The building is roughly 120x120 feet in size. We entered the buid with the walls ready to be topped so the roof can be added.
This needs to be completed before the roof is installed. Putting on the roof is critical to be finished prior the raining season.
All block is carried about a kilometer to the site by hand. The students do their part with this transfer
That's using your head
The interior of the dormitory has a courtyard where students can stud and relax. Our team is looking at trees and scrubs to plant before we leave
Rock sand cement is brought in and mixed at the site.
A well was dug by hand 20+ feet deep to supply water for the cement. pump is brought in to fill the tank which will serve the dormitory in the future. The first need for solar energy will be a solar powered pump.
